Naomi Shippen Bushell

      Naomi Shippen Bushell passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 13, 2011, from a stroke. She was born in Menan, Idaho, on Jan. 17, 1932, to Thomas Casper and Eliza Cordella Boyce Shippen. She grew up in Lewisville, Idaho, and Idaho Falls, and graduated from Rigby High School in 1950. After graduation, she moved to San Diego, where she met and married Bruce C. Bushell Sr. In fall 1955, they moved to Ogden, Utah, where she resided the remainder of her life. She worked at IRS and retired after 33 years of service.
     She had five sons, who were her pride and joy. She will be remembered as a caring soul who cherished a great love for her siblings, her sons and all of her extended family. Naomi was an avid reader and studied the Gospel her entire life. She was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She served two stake missions, but especially enjoyed teaching the Gospel, including a Book of Mormon class, which she taught until she was called home.
Naomi is survived by her five sons, Bruce C. (Carolyn) Bushell Jr., Thomas O. (Jayne) Bushell, Mark Shippen (Linda) Bushell, Paul M. Bushell Sr. and Richard C. (Stacey) Bushell; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two brothers and one sister. She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and one granddaughter.
    A viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Myers Mortuary in Ogden and one hour prior to funeral services. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Taylor Canyon Ward, 1643 26th St., Ogden, UT 84401. Interment will be in Kaysville City Cemetery.
